Cyprus Nurses and Midwives Association

The Cyprus Nurses and Midwives association is an independent professional, non-profit organization, established by the National Law for Nursing and Midwifery. It also provides access to Continuous Professional Development through professional and educational activities. It is governed by a Board comprised of 13 members elected by a general assembly every four years. Its work is supported by Speciality Branches and Regional (district) Committees. An employee is also supporting Cyprus Nurses and Midwives association’s work. 

The main objectives are to unite, empower, educate and support nurses as well as to influence health policy at various settings including local, regional, and international forums; strengthen the status and practice of the profession of nursing and the interests of nurses Nationally and increase the level of the professional nursing qualification and specialization; guarantee nurses access to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) through seminars, conferences and other professional activities. 

Cyprus Nurses and Midwives association is a member of European and International Nursing Organisations (EFN, ICN). Cyprus Nurses and Midwives association has pioneered the establishment and enactment by the parliament, of the National Code of Ethics and several amendments of legal documents related to the practice of the nursing profession. Every professional nurse practicing in the Republic is obliged by Law to participate in the organization. 

At a European and International level, Cyprus Nurses and Midwives association establishes links and representations between the European Federation of Nursing (EFN) and the International Council of Nurses (ICN) as well as other international organizations, resources, and networks to promote the sharing and exchange of knowledge and expertise.
