University of Patras

It consists of 35 Departments, 161 Laboratories and 17 Clinics, with 30,964 Undergraduate students, 1,746 Postgraduate students, 2,058 PhD students, 693 Faculty members, 1,598 Research Scholars, and 454 Administrative Staff members. The Department of Nursing was incorporated in the University of Patras in 2019. It aims at the introduction of students in the dynamic nature of Nursing, as this is applied in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Healthcare, as well as the formulation of knowledge basis, skills and attitudes, thanks to which the graduate will be able to evaluate healthcare needs of patients, to properly intervene for their coverage through evidence-based care, and to evaluate care outcomes. The Department has 17 faculty members, around 10 part-time special teaching staff and research scholars, as well as 20 doctoral students. It educates 850 students (annual intake of around 200) in the 4 -year undergraduate program of BSc in Nursing which leads to registration with the Greek Nursing Association. It also runs the Interdepartmental MSc program “Rehabilitation Sciences” together with the Departments of Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy of the University of Patras. In the course of more than 50 years of presence, the University of Patras has evolved into an internationally recognized higher education institution, based on its diverse and innovative research activity.  

It was ranked at the top 800-1000 Universities worldwide by the QS 2022 rankings with its research output marked as “high”.
